Important Transits for 2011 -
Since 2008, we've been in a highly transformational time. The last two years were dominated by an on-going opposition between Saturn (Sobek) and Uranus (Wadjet), which ended last summer in a powerful t-square also involving Pluto (Osiris) and Jupiter (Horus). The theme of the last two years has been endings - ending of our world as we've known it, including the economic domination of the United States on the world stage. Virtually everyone has been affected in some way by planetary events. In essence, this has been a death time. All deaths are also births and, just as with a new-born baby, it is impossible to know the character and personality of the new being that has been born.
2011 brings a transition into a new era, highlighed by the movement of Uranus firmly into the fire sign Aries and Neptune's slow transition into Pisces. Uranus and Neptune are two of the three generational planets (Pluto is the third). These planets are so far out in the solar system they stay in a sign of a zodiac for a very long time. Pluto transitioned into Capricorn in 2008; now Uranus and Neptune move into new signs. We truly are at the beginning of a new era.
Uranus transitions into Aries. Uranus, the planet of sudden and unpredictable change, enters the fire sign Aries. Uranus stays in a sign of a zodiac for approximately eight years. Uranus, Wadjet to the Egyptians, first entered Aries on May 27 of last year and retrograded back into Pisces on August 13. Uranus will re-enter Aries on March 12, 2011. Uranus will remain in the fiery sign of Aries until 2019.
It is worth noting that on July 9, Uranus will turn retrograde within a degree and a half of a square to Pluto. Wadjet, the cobra kundalini goddess of shattering change squares off to Osiris, the lord of death, rebirth and regeneration. These two stay within two degrees of one another through mid-September. This will provide a taste of the hugely transformative events to come. The first exact square between Uranus and Pluto takes place in June 2012; the two of them remain in a dance with one another through March, 2015.
Neptune transitions into Pisces. Neptune, lord of the sea and associated with the lunar goddess of mystery, Nephthys, begins its transition into the water sign Pisces. We can expect a gradual breakdown of the boundaries that divide us during Neptune's 14 year transit through Pisces. Neptune first enters Pisces on April 4, 2011, retrogrades back into Aquarius on August 4, and will then move firmly into Pisces on February 3, 2012. Neptune will remain in Pisces until 2025.
Jupiter enters Aries and Taurus. Jupiter stays in a sign of the zodiac for about a year. Jupiter re-enters Aries on January 22 and will enter Taurus on June 4. Jupiter, the young king Horus, expands any sign or planet with which he comes into relationship. Aries is a fire sign, impulsive, energetic and open to change. Aries is associated with Kephera, the neter associated with the morning sun and a reminder that every day is a new beginning. Taurus is an earth sign, grounded in the body and practical, earth reality. Taurus is associated with Hathor in the Egyptian pantheon, a goddess who loves the earth and all of its creatures unconditionally.
Jupiter conjuncts Uranus. The Young King energy of Jupiter (Horus) aligns with and expands the shattering energy of Uranus. Jupiter and Uranus complete the third of three exact conjunctions on January 4 at the 27th degree of Pisces. This alignment began in June of last year.
Jupiter squares Pluto. The expansive energy of the Young King Jupiter squares Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, god of regeneration, for the third and final time on February 25 at Capricorn 8 degrees. This square began last year in July.
Jupiter opposite Saturn. Jupiter (Horus), the principle of expansion, opposes Saturn (Sobek), the principle of consolidation. The third of three exact oppositions takes place on March 28. Jupiter first exactly opposed Saturn last May and again in August.
Jupiter trine Pluto. The expansive energy of Jupiter now aligns in a harmonious way with the underworld lord, Pluto . Jupiter and Pluto will exactly trine three times, July 7 and October 28, and for a third time on March 13, 2012.
Mercury Retrograde. Mercury turns retrograde three times in 2011, for approximately three weeks at a time. Mercury is the planet of communication and governs transportation and communication systems. Mercury retrograde periods are times when we need to collectively retreat - to take stock of that which needs to be re-thought or re-done since the last Mercury retrograde period. It is difficult to move forward in the way society expects and wants. Transportation and communication systems sometimes literally break down during Mercury retrograde periods, forcing upon us a collective respite from forward motion.
Mercury is the Egyptian god Thoth, the sacred scribe, who assists us in receiving downloads from divine source. Mercury retrograde periods are excellent times to open to our inner guidance - to re-think, re-process, re-do, and release our preconceptions of how things are to be. These times provide the opportunity to open to our soul's guidance as to our next right step.
Mercury turns retrograde on March 30 at Aries 25 degrees and will turn direct on April 23 at Aries 13 degrees. Mercury's second retrograde period will begin On August 2 at Virgo 2 degrees and end on August 26 at Leo 19. The third and last 2011 retrograde period of Mercury will start on November 24 at Sagittarius 21 degrees and end on December 13 at Sagittarius 4 degrees.
Current Transits - Astrological Month of Pisces, 2011.
- February 18 - Full Moon on the 29th degree of Leo; Sun enters Pisces -
- February 21 - Mercury enters Pisces -
- February 22 - Mars enters Pisces -
- March 1 - Venus enters Aquarius -
- March 4 - New Moon on the 13th degree of Pisces -
- March 9 - Mercury enters Aries -
- March 11 - Uranus enters Aries -
- March 19 - Full Moon on the 28th degree of Virgo -
- March 20 - Sun enters Aries
A most important astrological event takes place during the month of Pisces. On March 11, Uranus moves into the fire sign Aries.
Uranus is one of the three outer planets associated with generational or evolutionary change. The other two are Neptune and Pluto. Uranus represents sudden, unpredictable change - sometimes difficult and always revolutionary. The word "revolution" has a natural affinity with the energetic quality of Uranus. A useful metaphor is that of a chick inside an egg. At a certain point the chick has consumed all the available nourishment and is too big for the egg. Now the egg restricts and confines rather than supports, and instinctively the chick knows that if it doesn't get out of the egg it will die. The chick begins to peck at the inside of the egg and, suddenly, the egg shatters. This is the Uranian moment, when the world is transformed, changed, and totally altered. The chick steps out into a brand new world - alarming and overwhelming at first - but in no time at all the chick adapts to its new environment.
Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, the sign of the new age, and has always been associated with revolutionary concepts, inventions, philosophies and actions. Aquarius is said to "rule" technology and the products of invention. It took a product of technology - a telescope - to find Uranus in 1781. Its discovery paralleled the American, French and Industrial Revolutions and heralded a time when society was catapulted into the modern age. In the Egyptian pantheon, Uranus is aligned with Wadjet, the cobra headed goddess whof breaks through any blocks restricting life force energy. It is Wadjet who inspired the chick to peck its way out of the egg, and it is she who is urging us to break out of the mental structures that keep us stuck in a perception of reality that is killing us.
The entry of Uranus into the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, signals that we are entering into a new dance on the spiral of life. Aries is aligned with Kephera, the Egyptian neter represented by the scarab. Scarabs were sacred to the ancient Egyptians and were a symbol of the constant dance of life and death. Scarab beetles are both male and female; they give birth to their eggs, fertilize them, and carry them protected in a ball of dung that they push across the desert floor. So, too, each of us must give birth, fertilize and protect our creations until they are ready to fly on their own. We are entering a time of rich creativity and massive change. There are dangers during this time - all birth is accompanied by risk - but the alternative to birth is certain death.
The influence of Uranus has been strong for the last two and a half years. In the fall of 2008, Uranus entered into an opposition with Saturn - the old King Sobek in the Egyptian pantheon - a transit that finally ended last summer. Since 2008 we have watched our economic structure crumble and we find ourselves in a time of incredible unpredictability and change. The old patriarchal order is still strong and fights to maintain the status quo. But all its actions come to naught as the power and force of Wadjet is stronger than anything Sobek can muster. All things have its time, and the time of the patriarchy is over. Sobek, the Old King, must relinquish his throne.
The last opposition of Saturn and Uranus took place last summer, with Uranus in the first degree of Aries. Since that time, Uranus has moved back into the water sign Pisces. The energy has been diluted and confusing, but that will soon change. With the movement on March 11 of Uranus into the Aries, the spiral dance will commence in earnest. A new day is dawning and all are invited to the dance.
Early in the month, on February 20, Mercury is activating an alignment between Mars and Neptune. On February 25, Jupiter and Pluto align in their third and final square, another indication that the old order is dying and the new age is ready to take flight. During the early days of Pisces, take the opportunity to go out under the brilliant Full Moon and connect directly with Divine Source. Mercury holds the veil open and Neptune invites us all to enter into the mysteries and receive our own direct downloads from the other realms. Connect with your inner Horus and allow yourself to be aligned with the bright new energy of the New Age.

The latest Disasters and their relevant charts

The Astrology of the Chilean Mining Disaster
The astrology chart of the Mine collapse shows a very tight T- square.
T-SQUARE’S look like pyramid shaped diagrams of geometric angles called aspects between planets. The planets are aligned in such a way that one planet is in a 90 degree angle in both directions to 2 or more opposing planets. They are tense angles but the stress produces action. The T- Square’s apex starts with a Retrograde Pluto in Earth sign Capricorn in the 1st house of identity. Pluto is a key player.
Pluto is Lord of Rebirth, destruction, regeneration. Pluto never mind the demoted status to a Plutoid or “minor planet” is best known in the Greek myths for kidnapping Demeter the Earth Mother’s daughter Persephone by suddenly snatching the innocent girl and abducting her underground to the Underworld, Land of the Dead, the Symbol of the Unconscious and the Soul which he rules. Pluto is known as Hades, Lord of the shades, he is noted for power, control secrets, mines, darkness, the shadow, riches. You get the picture.
Pluto is squaring- applying pressure to Saturn and Mars conjunct in Libra. These two planets are known as The Great Malefics traditionally, bringer of sorrows, limitations, obstacles. In Libra Saturn, always the Lord of Karma is an exalted negotiator, balancing and being just and fair.
Mars the warrior is considered to be weak in Libra as it is the Sign opposite the one he rules which is Aries. Saturn and Mars are located in the 10thhouse of world Fame, High Noon of this chart. This symbolizes a karmic rise to power and fame.
Pluto is also squaring a Retrograde Uranus at Zero degrees of Aries- the world point in Astrology! Uranus god of sudden changes is conjunct Jupiter Retrograde at 3 degrees of Aries.
The MC – HIGH NOON position of WORLD FAME -shows 3 degree of Virgo at the top of the chart. This degree is Conjunct the Fixed star Regulus akaArchangel Raphael whose marker Star is at 28 degrees of Leo. Regulus is one of the four main archangel stars. Archangel Raphael rules the heart and his healing emerald green compassionate energies are very powerful. Considering that the miners, all very Catholic, prayed a lot for a safe rescue as did their families, the El Presidente Pinera et al and the headlines in the newspapers said:
”I was with God and I was with the Devil, they fought me but God Won. He took me by my best hand, the hand of God and I held on to him. I never thought for one minute that God wouldn’t get me out of here. The best-known miner, most voluble on video during their entrapped days, Mario Sepulveda, 40, told an interviewer shortly after he was the rescued.
So we can see the healing heart and hands of Archangel Raphael protecting sustaining and rescuing the 33 miners trapped for 69 days in the womb of the Mother.
The MC is also being Trined- an easy aspect by Lord of the Underworld Pluto himself. So the mine collapse on another level and abduction was for a soul healing and world-revealing lesson. Pluto in Capricorn is transforming all earthly things from corporations, to practical, long term, serious, responsible, of the fatherly and patriarchal things- that Saturn rules; structure, rebuilding, obstacles, karma, testing, limitations, ageing, etc.
Asteroid Ceres, who is the symbol of Ceres/ Demeter the Earth Mother Goddess Herself is in the 1st house on the Ascendant, mask or persona of this event at 20 degrees of Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is a mutable fire Sign of Higher Teaching, Faith, Hope, optimism, religious belief, philosophy, foreigners, laws, humour, easy going attitudes, all of which those miners had, used needed and which have come into play very prominently in this story.
Ceres/Demeter is about separation and reuniting. Ceres is sorrow, loss. Ceres is opposite the Moon at 14 degrees of Gemini in the 6th house, having just set at the time of the mine collapse it is just below the horizon line and conjunct the 7th house cusp, also known as the Descendant- where one interfaces with all other – You’s.
The Moon is feelings, emotions, instincts, the Mother, the Unconscious, memory, melancholy.
The Moon in Gemini is always the split in consciousness, duality, as Gemini is the sign of the thinking faculty itself as the first air sign. We see the opposition, a tug of war between the Archetype of the Mother Earth Ceres, and the split in the male consciousness, black and white, good and bad, mother and whore, us and them etc. As this archetypal battle is played out, the Moon has just squared Mercury at 10 degrees of Virgo up in the 10th house of career, fame, notoriety, and daylight consciousness. Showing how this activity will affect the World at large in a big way.
Mining is considered to be an act against the Earth Mother by indigenous Native Americans in South and North America. To take out her gold, copper, oil is to rape, damage and disrespect her. Venus ruler of Copper is also up there in the 10th house at 28 degrees of Earthy practical Virgo. This degree is exactly square to the Galactic Centre which this month entered a new degree, 28 degree of Sagittarius.
The Galactic Center is the Black Hole at the Center of our Milky Way Galaxy – named after the Goddess’s Milk of Loving Kindness, which spilled over and are our STARS in the Heavens.
According to Mayan archeo-astronomers and ‘glyphers The Galactic Centre is seen as a symbolic Cosmic Vagina, the birth giving and death bringing “weigh- station” of all souls. All the hoopla about 2012 as connected to the alignment of the Winter solstice Sun with the Galactic Center.
So we see Venus ruling wealth, copper, values, the Goddess, Love, luxury in Virgo bringing very Virgo-ian exacting, meticulous, hard work as a pivotal point in engineers co-operating from around the world to quickly perfecting the mine shaft, Phoenix rescue rocket faster than was expected.
Jupiter ruler of the Sagittarius Ascendant is conjunct Uranus in early Aries opposite Saturn and Mars in the 4th house which always symbolizes Midnight, the darkest, most private part of any chart, endings, privacy, family, the mother, the grave.
Jupiter rules all things Big, laws, expansion, gold, foreigners. Uranus is sudden, unexpected, revolutionary electrifying, altruistic, humanitarian things. Put that combo all together and it spells, well you can figure it out.
Besides the Astrology aspects what struck me was this:
This is a male initiation of rebirth through the feminine.
Note the Sacred Master Number of men 33, Christ died at 33, the 33rd Grade of the Masonic Lodges.
These 33 hard working labourers, karmic unconsciously surrendered themselves as initiates, sacrificial men who like Christ, archetypal have left their individuals lives to symbolize a greater transpersonal Life, for the greater Good of All.
Trapped for 69 days. 69 is a symbol of the balance of the masculine and the Feminine.
The rescue televised worldwide was watched by a Billion viewers mainly live in real time.
This was the antidote to tragedy, to the Gulf Oil Crisis and the Hungarian toxic sludge mess. All these dis-asters were man made of course.
The 33 men served as a collective Persephone, the young maiden innocent, pubescent daughter of the Great Mother Demeter. Pluto, Lord of Riches and the Underworld engulfs Persephone = the 33 men through a mining collapse. In the Myth Persephone stayed 6 months underground, becoming Pluto/Hades’ consort. She learns to “be with” death, transformation, loses her innocence, all psychological aspects.
In our modern retelling of the Ancient myth acted on the world’s stage the men undergo this Feminine initiation. They live survive and thrive in the Earth Mother’s womb. She has told them her secrets. They have returned to the day world of Light, they have met, confronted and conquered death. Death has become their, and our ally. They have been changed. Their changes affect everyone.
At ancient Native American Indian sites at Chaco Canyon in New Mexico, the people conducted their spiritual religious rites, worshipped and aligned with the earth and the stars in KIVA’S, which symbolize the womb/tomb, they are sacred underground “temples.”
These men served to function as a collective, humbling, enabling emotions, tears, hugging, sharing, cameraderie, fellowship, brotherhood by co-operation which ensures survival.
I see that these men unconsciously cleared a huge mass of negative energy by having to endure and surrender themselves to the Earth Mother. Whether they consciously pray to Jesus, Mother Mary, Allah, Kwan Yin, Buddha, the intention is all the same.
As the miners were rescued on Oct 13 this photo shows 2 men being midwives to the man emerging from the Underworld, the depths, the “belly of the whale” the Great Womb {and tomb-not yet in this case} of the Earth. I felt these men, ordinary lower class; workingmen of various ages shared in a survival mystique and their hopes, and strength over adversity give the rest of the world strength, co-operation, faith, a renewed belief in miracles. Of never giving up.
Asteroid Ceres on Oct 13 is at 1 degree of Capricorn, closely conjunct the Moon, which moved from 27 degrees of Sagittarius that day through Capricorn conjuncting Ceres, Pluto and the North Node at 5 degrees of Capricorn. It is by the Divine Grace of the Goddess that the men were rescued so quickly and easily.
There are other deeper labour and human rights issues, which haven’t been talked about much. The mine was unsafe, the value of gold and copper being so high these days that these men’s live which ordinarily would be considered “throw-away,” replaceable, have now become valuable beyond measure. Because of the disaster which turned out to be a miracle. New safer laws are going into effect. Chile’s GNP is 40% mining. Check this out:
They always say there’s a silver lining, or it’s a blessing in disguise.
Its Alchemy on a world wide scale. Alchemy is the symbolic turning of Lead, which is Saturn’s karmic symbol. Lead = fear, limitations, time, obstacles, negativity. Saturn is the Devil. Saturn is the Grim Reaper. Saturn is power and control, seniority. Lead is dark, dense, heavy. Saturn is the Earthly 3d, Saturn rules Capricorn. Alchemy turns lead into Gold. Gold getting increasingly valuable, symbolizes spiritual wealth, the Sun,the Light. The Source, faith, redemption.
So the 33 have redeemed us all, a little bit more.
The world watches, in the participation mystique and mysteries millions are moved to tears, everyone globally shares the same feelings, the same hopes, thrills even for a moment in the realization of what freedom is. How fragile life is, how close we can be to “walking in the valley of the shadow of Death.” We are all cleansed, renewed, happy.
EARTHQUAKE IN NEW ZEALAND
The latest and tragic New Zealand Earthquake has astrologers speculating on the possible indications of such an event. Our knowledge is not sophisticated enough to predict such events with accuracy, and I don’t specialize in mundane astrology. I woke up this morning to hear the news of the Earthquake in New Zealand. I don’t have the natal chart for New Zealand, and so I can’t refine the astrological reading. In the current sky we have a cardinal t-square and some astrologers’ associate earthquakes with the cardinal signs. I would then expect that the t-square formed with Jupiter in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn in Libra may have caused such a shift under the earth’s surface.
The Jupiter-Pluto square is exact and the cardinal signs respond to the major angles of the mundane map. Astrologer Sue Tompkins says that we can expect to hear stories about ruthless leaders, power-struggles, mining, and various recycling groups under the Jupiter-Pluto’s cycle. We could also examine the large (Jupiter) destruction (Pluto) and massive amounts of (Jupiter) rubble (Pluto) which has also occurred under this transit. This is New Zealand’s worst disaster in 80 years and it has been described as their darkest day. Apparently they sit on top of an Earthquake centre. The Earthquake in September was larger and caused more damage, but it didn’t claim any lives, and this one is an aftershock of the previous one. Under difficult Jupiter –Pluto squares the future can look dark, frightening and bleak. Our sense of future may go ‘underground’ and people can feel as if they are stuck in a dark place.
Jupiter-Pluto transits also represent super-human strength and people in New Zealand are feeling terrified and hopefully they can use this energy to find extra reserves of power. Another astrologer has said that the sign of Pisces corresponds to earthquakes, but I don’t know the reasoning behind his knowledge. Yesterday, we had a line-up of planets in the sign of Pisces. Neptune has reached the critical degrees of Aquarius, and the nodal axis in is cardinal signs at 0 degrees, but I don’t want to read too much into events. Furthermore, other astrologers predict that’s it’s the planets in fixed signs that predict major earthquakes.
Christchurch NZ was hit by another major earthquake today, 22 February 2011, 12:51 pm, magnitude 6.3. A quick look at the chart shows a stellium of planets in late Aquarius, early Pisces. Venus is on the DC of the 2010 quake. Jupiter is square Pluto. Uranus is square the Lunar Nodes, and square the December 2010 lunar eclipse degree.
For the September quake, the lunar eclipse was conjunct the NZ Mercury and Saturn was square Mercury. Today, Jupiter is square the NZ Mercury.
For todays quake, the December 2010 Lunar Eclipse was conjunct North Node, opposite Venus. This means that today, the lunar eclipse and the North Node are conjunct the New Zealand North Node. In fact the exact return of the North Node is today 1:03 pm (precessed). Uranus is also square the North Node (exact on March 4). Back in September, Jupiter was square the NZ North Node.
——————————————————————————————————
There was a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch New Zealand today causing widespread damage, the government has declared a state of emergency. Previously we have looked at charts for major earthquakes in relation to the aspects involving trans-Neptunian planets, especially Sedna and Eris.
“Sedna in astrology may be linked to earth changes. It’s orbital period is very long at over 10,000 years and it is approaching it’s prehelion, coming closer to Earth.” –Sedna and Earth Changes
Sedna again looks to be important in this Christchurch earthquake. It is the action point of a Yod aspect pattern to Mars sextile Ceres. Ceres does seem to have some influence over environment issues. Mars opposite Eris ties this other trans- Neptunian into the configuration.
Eclipse Path
This map from NASA shows the path of the July 2010 Solar Eclipse just touching New Zealand.
That eclipse was at 19.24 Cancer, and the Ascendant for the Earthquake is 19.24 Cancer! The Ascendant is most important in astrology, it is the star rising on the eastern horizon for that time and place.
